Titan

About

what i am learning
Titan has been in Schreiber since 2022 with me and now that i am retired i feel i can home school them and guide their lives into the future.

his education will be based on his culture, traditions and training will be to get him into both Indian and non Indian employment and social affairs.

Titan is part of the Pays Plat Band, and has certain rights under the indian act, but his human and aboriginal rights come from the creator.

Titan  is very outgoing and is a little shy in different situations, He loves sports, fixing things and a variety of activities. he is very athletic.

We taught Titan and his brother to skate when they came to live with us, They also like archery and are good shots with the pellet gun (rifle and pistol)

I took him and his brother out to show them how to set snares for rabbits, and looking for moose sign.

You can see all the videos of my learning to skate with my brother, grandpa and robin

Points to think about

The animals we eat and hunt,
some people hunt/trap many animals to sell, the ones listed below we eat.

we use the furs or sell them but we do not kill them just to sell their furs, we eat what we sell.

That is why you dont see fox or lynx or wolf because we do not eat those species and so will not kill them , that goes for the black bear too.

We do allow the killing of an animal in self defense without you having to eat it.

Below is an estimate of my yearly harvest of meat.

We hunt moose any time of the year but usually in the fall when you can control the hunt easier.

an estimation of the harvest i would require for a family of four.

Moose, 1 per year

Deer, 2 per year

rabbit, 6 per month

partridge, 3 per week/12 per month

Beaver, 1 per month

muskrat, 2 per month

Ducks,2 per month

geese, 2 per month

fishing

Smelts
These run end of April to beginning of May, you need to go out late, midnite at least. Try to net at least 30 pounds to last the year,

Walleye
Catch up to 30 fish for the rest of the year or a 120 pounds which should render almost half that in filets.

white fish

lake trout

speckled trout

rainbow trout
catch four or five of these beauty in the spring to smoke.

salmon ten to 15 in the summers

sucker

ling

Pike
a fresh pike is good eating, so when we catch them we cook em.

perch

tulipee

Nets

Rods

Walleye/pickerel

Fishing the pickerel run at the black sturgeon river. we used rod and reel with  minnow bait on a jig

We catch about a hundred pounds of pickerel  uncleaned which will render about 40 pounds of meat.

the guts, heads, bones are used in the garden or turned to high yield liquid fish fertilizer.

Titan at black sturgeon, caught ten walleye

Talon first walley and he caught 2
